Our chosen genre is classed as Indie Pop, which originated from Indie Rock around the 1970's-80's. Typical conventions of the setting of music videos within this genre are public places such as parks, cities, woods and studios where the main focus of the video is on the performance. Most music videos in this genre will include performance shots of the artist however, a strong narrative is usually used in this genre also. Close up shots are most common in this genre usually of props used such as instruments.
Indie pop is usually found most appealing by 16-22 year old due to advertising on social media platforms. The audience varies between males and females as there is not a specific gender that this genre is targeted towards.
The band members and the female characters are wearing fashionable clothing that will appeal to a younger audience involving both genders. At this age they will also be able to relate to relationships/ break-ups which is the theme of this video.
