It is important that in music videos there is a link between lyrics and visuals, this is one of the 7 principles of Goodwin's theory. The link is made when an object or action is made on the screen at the same time a reference to that is made in the lyrics. Our music video will need to include this as the song we chose by Canopy Climbers (Slip) has many references to love however, we have taken our open spin on the theme of the video and make it about somebody that dies and lyrics such as "I can feel you slipping away" suggests that it also fits the theme of death. It is important that this link between visuals and lyrics is made in music videos according to Goodwin's theory in order for a music video to be successful. This also helps to deliver the message/ narrative to the audience if the lyrics are made more clear due to the picture on the screen also help to tell the story.
This task has shown me the importance of the link between lyrics and visuals in music videos and how we will need to do this as our narrative can be interrupted in different ways therefore, we need to ensure that the message of the music video is clear.
