Our chosen artist/band (Canopy Climbers) are an Indie Rock/Pop group that are recognised as a laid back band that just enjoy putting out music fro their target audience. They aren't a very well known band however, this is mainly because they are not a mainstream genre meaning that the target audience for this genre are usually smaller groups that are not stereotypical and do not follow the crowd. After analysing their existing music videos, they do not seem to follow the typical codes and conventions of Indie music videos. Usually, music videos in this genre follow a strong narrative however, from the couple of music videos that they have this is not evident in fact their videos are more concept/performance based. The band do not actually feature in their own videos, instead other performers are used and they just dance in front of the camera in various locations not following the idea of a narrative based music video.
Before creating our own music video for the band's song "Slip", I analysed some of their existing music videos for inspiration however, their music videos are not good representations of music videos in this genre. This makes sense to me now after researching into our artist as I found that they aren't about performing they just enjoy creating music. Because of this, I had to take inspiration form other music videos within our genre as well as use the other information about conventions of Indie Pop from my other research.
