Audience Profile:
Age: In the mainstream industry, this genre of music and
artist appeals mostly to 11-25 year olds as a younger audience can relate to
the artist and see him potentially as a role model or an influence.
Alternatively, the older end of the age bracket may hear the artist songs when
they go out.
Gender & sexuality: Heterosexual males are the artists
main target audience however; the artist is also popular with the opposite
gender/ sexuality. The main target audience can relate to the artist the most
and can be influenced by his style and music as it is easier for them to relate
to him.
Ethnicity: The primary demographic of this artist is
typically African American males as most of their music relates to black
history/politics and popular African American sports such as basketball etc.
However, its success in the mainstream has grown and has become very popular
with other ethnic groups now as well.
Class: A social grade C1 possibly C2 would be the artist’s
typical audience as the messages from the artist would appeal more to this
status than an upper class status. The artist and music culture focus on money
and power which appeals more to a lower middle class audience regardless of
age, gender etc.

which creates a topic for the audience to talk about with their friends
potentially.
