This magazine advertisement was inspired by another boy band pop genre poster (one direction). As these are one of the biggest boy bands currently we felt that imitating this design would make a successful poster. The brick wall background has featured on a one direction poster in the past and we thought that it would be a neutral colour that we could use allowing the main image on the front of the band to stand out more. The text layout was also inspired by existing boy band posters that we found through research.
the main piece of constructive criticism that we received from class feedback was about the brick wall background which was inspired from many existing boy band magazine adverts. Many people mentioned completely removing the brick wall background and even just keeping it white. After receiving this feedback, it allowed me to picture the improvements and see a much more professionally looking poster. Another comment that was said was that we could have filled up more of the page in terms of text below possibly listing no.1 single or something along those lines. On the other hand, the majority of positive feedback was based around the image of the band on the front and the way that their identity is hidden which creates a mysterious effect.
