At the beginning of the music video a man can be seen polishing a car in a garage and the use of personification through the use of the word "she", gives the car some character almost as if the car represents a female character. Throughout the music video, the lyrics refer to a cars aesthetics however, the language used makes it sound as if the artist is talking about a woman. One of the lines is "come park that chassis next to mine" which could technically represent a car however, the context it is used in sounds like the artist could be referring to this female character. At the end of the music video it becomes apparent that the artist is talking about the car seen at the start of the video as the final scene shows the man back in the garage when he kisses his hand and touches the car shows that the car is the topic of the video however, the car could represent a woman in a different music video.
Originally, my pitch idea for a music video for this song was a man describing a woman that he saw through the use of personification as he used a car to represent the female. I imagined that the artist would see the woman on multiple occasions however, she doesn't notice him until the end of the music video.
My pitch for the music video was similar however, the actual music video was about a car and not a female character which is what I thought the video would be based upon. I have realised from this that Goodwin's Theory has been incorporated within this video as there is a strong link between visuals and lyrics. I thought the song was about a woman and therefore, would feature a female character as the subject of the video however, the subject of the video was the car and the artist/mechanics thoughts towards it.
